Glendora Forward hosts Glendora’s first Pride celebration

On Friday, June 24th, 2022, Glendora Forward will host “Pride in the Foothills” to celebrate LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer) 🏳️‍🌈🦄💕❤️ for Pride month. Pride month is celebrated annually in June to honor the 1969 uprising at the Stonewall Inn which sparked a liberation movement — a call to action that continues to inspire us to live up to our Nation’s promise of equality, liberty, and justice for all. Pride in the Foothills is open to everyone- LGBTQ and allies. The event’s name is a play on the city’s slogan, “Pride of the Foothills,” and will be held from 4pm-8pm at Gladstone Park.

“The city recently updated Gladstone Park playground with a new inclusive design for children with all abilities—that with its central location makes it the perfect space to hold Glendora’s first LGBTQ celebration,” said Mallory Buril, who serves on GF’s event committee and board.

Pride in the Foothills will feature interactive activities including face painting, paint a pot with the nonprofit group Plants 4 the People, a fitness session by LGBTQ owned Grit & Gratitude Fitness, and a very special performance from Trans Chorus of Los Angeles, or TCLA.

“Pride in the Foothills is really a historic event for Glendora. We engaged the community throughout the planning process and have received an outpouring of support, partnership, and excitement for this celebration,” said Julie Porter, Glendora Forward event committee and board member.

Food vendors from Glendora Public Market will offer “Pride Specials” for people who would like to purchase and bring food to the event. See below for details and more information.
